We all realize that is would be wonderful if we
didn't have to FUNDRAISE to support the many programs, but until that
"special" donor comes along, we do.
The Chantilly
Music Boosters continues to hold various fundraising activities throughout
the year. Our goal is to offer your child as many opportunities as possible
to raise the necessary funds to support the cost of the trips.

Grocery Store Scrip

“SCRIP”---it is a great way to save the money
you need for band fees and trip expenses. It can be purchased for
Giant and for Shoppers Food Warehouse gift card/certificates. We need
additional people who buy their groceries at SFW to join up and
purchase SCRIP because there is a minimum amount the Chantilly Music
Boosters much purchase each cycle. Several parents of last year’s
seniors who are no longer buying carried us over that minimum amount
in the past few years and so we need some additional folks who shop at
SFW to replace them. Information forms will be distributed on
Thursday at the parent meeting, can be found on the wall in the band
room, or can be sent to you electronically. We also need Neighborhood
Coordinators in Brookfield or any other neighborhood that includes CHS
students and is not currently represented.
WHAT IS THE SCRIP PROGRAM?
The SCRIP program is a method of fundraising that is used by many
organizations. By purchasing “gift certificates" from grocery stores in
quantity, we receive a discount on the total cost of these certificates. The
exchange rate for you on the SCRIP you purchase is 100%, dollar for dollar.
It is treated as CASH and may be used for ANY merchandise you normally
purchase in the chain of stores in which it is issued. The scrip
denominations are as follows: GIANT@ $20, $25, $50, SHOPPERS @
$20, $2S, $50. Giant now uses a debit card in the amounts listed above;
Shoppers still uses the paper scrip.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
The program operates on a two-week cycle: an order week followed by a
pick-up week.
To purchase SCRIP:
 | Pick up a SCRIP order envelope - the order form is
printed on the envelope. |
| Complete the form printed on the envelope. Place your
check, made payable to CHANTILLY MUSIC BOOSTERS, in the SCRIP
envelope. Please place your student's NAME on the CHECK to help us
credit the student's account. The order form will specify which store you
would like to purchase from, and the denominations you desire. You may mix
your order between the two stores. |
| Deliver the envelope to the AREA COORDINATOR closest to
you by SUNDAY of the order week. The AREA COORDINATOR then
takes the SCRIP orders to the SCRIP Chairman who tallies the order and
purchases the SCRIP. The stores require time to process the order - which
is why it takes a bit over a week.] |
| Pick up your SCRIP from your coordinator on WEDNESDAY -
the following week. Give a call first, to make sure its there, and they
are home. Your order will include a new envelope for your next SCRIP
order. You will receive SCRIP in the exact amount of your check.
TIP: Many people prefer to place their next order at the same time they
pick up their SCRIP. This keeps you in the cycle and saves you a trip. |

HOW DOES THIS BENEFIT MY STUDENT?
When the SCRIP Chairman purchases the entire order they will receive a 5%
discount on Shoppers SCRIP(4% discount on Giant SCRIP) on the total price. Of that 5%(4%): 80% will go to your student's
account and the remaining 20% will go to the Booster General Account of the
group your child participates in (band, choral, orchestra, color guard). You
are welcome to have friends or neighbors purchase scrip through you, and the
profits from these orders will go to your student's account. If you have 2
or more children in the music program, the entire 5%(4%) is credited to their
account.
