2017-2018 Concert Ensembles

The Chantilly High School Band Program currently has many different types of ensembles for students to get involved in.  All bands prepare several concerts throughout the year, including the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association Concert Band Festival Assessment.  We send many students to audition for All-District Band, and several students each year advance to All-Virginia Band and Orchestra auditions, and eventually become part of one of the Virginia All-State Bands or Orchestras, which perform during the All-Virginia Band and Orchestra weekend in April.

Symphonic Winds

Comprised of our most experienced and advanced musicians, the CHS Symphonic Winds is the highest level performing ensemble of the Chantilly Band program.  Symphonic Winds has developed a strong musical tradition through their performances in the Chantilly community, at VBODA District Band Assessments, and through regional and national festivals and workshops.  The ensemble has been a featured performer at both the National Concert Band Festival and the Virginia Music Educators Association State Conference.

Symphonic Band

Serving as the core foundation of our band program, the CHS Symphonic Band is currently our largest concert ensemble.  Performing primarily grade IV and V level music, the Symphonic Band performs three to four times over the course of the school year for both community concerts and our VBODA District Band Assessment.

Concert Band

Comprised of approximately fifty members, the CHS Concert Band focuses on developing student musicians through the performance of ability appropriate repertoire.  Performing primarily grade III and IV level music, the Concert Band performs three to four times over the course of the school year for both community concerts and our VBODA District Band Assessment.

Additionally, we have 2 Jazz Ensembles, the Chantilly Jazz and Workshop Jazz, and our Percussion Ensemble.
